There were 17 awards presented this year including 4 new awards; Service to the Cycle Industry, Cycling Consumer Magazine of the Year, Cycling Consumer Website of the Year and Cycling Woman of the Year. Once the nominations were closed it was down to everyone within the industry to vote.
Ceri was shortlisted in the Cycling Woman of the Year category, which would go to a woman who has made a marked impact in the cycle industry over the last year. Ceri has certainly done that, and not just in the past year but for over 10 years.
In 2018 Ceri is celebrating 10 years of trading at Twenty3c, which is not only an excellent IBD (Independent Bicycle Dealer) but also hosts an award-winning café. Now located on the High Street in Stony Stratford, building up the reputation of Twenty3c has been, at times, an uphill struggle (good thing she put on her climbing legs before the segment started).
Ceri has put together a good team within the shop to ensure the smooth day-to-day running whilst she gets her teeth stuck into other ventures. She recently graduated from the Goldman-Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Programme, adding another string to her entrepreneurial bow whilst she also works on something completely different (more on that to come in due course).
Rewind back to the night of February 23rd, Ceri was confident she would not win. So confident in fact that she claimed she would give free coffee to her customers if she did win. But to our, and her customers’, delight her name was called out as the winner! Ceri was now the Cycling Woman of the Year, and many coffees lighter!
She and the team at Twenty3c will be serving up free coffee between 2pm and 5pm on Saturday 17th March 2018. If you read this before then why not come down, grab a cup and raise a toast to Ceri? Apologies if you read this after Saturday 17th, we’ll try and make sure she wins something else she doesn’t expect to!
